Suicide is perhaps the most difficult act a humand being could do because to overcame the strong "survival instincs" that keep you alive even when you want to die you need some kind of strong determination: like the one given by extreme despair and/or suffering. So extreme you desire not only to die, but to completly cease to exist (no hope in an afertlife at all, desire only for oblivion).
If you never felt somenthing like that it is indeed difficult to understand but, belive me, that's better and perfectly normal, I think
