You did the right thing. One battlecruiser for the loss of one small U-Boat is a superb return. Sometimes you have to fight even when the odds are stacked against you.

edit: How did you get 17 knots out of your Type II? Mine won't exceed 13 knots at flank even with all sails set and the afterburner on.
I did not. The Task Force was moving at 17knots. Hence I had to attack on the spot
