He's not the only one. Personally i try not to be vocal about it until the need arises, but am not always successful about remaining quiet about topics I am passionate about.

I think those whack jobs like the guy at the movie theater he'd have done that in Bora Bora if he lived there.

Well, to be fair steelhead, according to the media, you do have more then your fair share of whackjobs in Florida. For what it's worth, i think the guy that decided to be confrontational was in the wrong in instant he decided to be confrontational while carrying. (Or was it he left the theater to go get his gun?) Retired LEO wasn't he? My pet theory is I think he forgot he wasn't wearing a badge anymore.

Well there is hardly a state that is safe from some form of natural disaster.

True. It's either Fires, hurricane's, earthquakes, or tornado's. What differs is the frequency of their occurrence. Where I live, the chance i'll see a hurricane is probably never, a tornado is a big maybe to never, and an earthquake not much more then then. Oh i've heard stories about the "wasatch fault" that have been going around since my wife grew up around here, but I've also heard stories about "The Big one" in california when i grew up there. Neither have happened.

I have always lived in inland Florida I think it is stupid to live right along the beach like many do that is asking for trouble just from beach erosion much less storms.

Oh I agree, but id extend that to any habitation that is at sea level in hurricane alley.

I all of roughly 30 years living in Florida I have only been effected by 2 storm one was a massive Nor'easter back in 91(I think) which nailed all of the Eastern Seaboard as far inland as Pennsylvania.

I think it may have been 92. June or July in 1992 if memory serves me correctly. I was never stationed along the Gulf Coast. Ever. Nah uh.
( By the way, if your familiar with
, there really is, or at least was, a First self Rightous Babtist Church in Pascagoula. I drove right by it. Crazy! )

Then in 2004 while on leave no less two hurricanes came through nearly back to back that sucked but it did no serious damage beyond knocking the power out for 2 weeks.

Well, you have to admit, florida see's forces of natural disaster much more frequently by way of comparison. I think back to when i was(nt) in the gulf coast area, remember the hurricanes that made the news over the last couple decades, then I look at florida on the map, and i just have to say, "That's nuts!"

Few people realize that there is a massive fault line in the Eastern US that is still active one day it is going to do some serious damage sooner or later.Or how about the volcanic activity under Yellowstone National park which will cause a massive eruption at some point 5 minutes from or 10,000 years from now (?) so massive that it will cover the entire planet in ash on a scale large enough to possibly cause mass extinction.

Ah yes, the Yellowstone Cauldera. We probably watched the same National geographic documentary. If that thing blows, it will probably kill most everything.
