I'm not a native German speaker, but the Greenpeace folks have used the following phrases on their German language website to describe the
Nisshin Maru, a modern day whale processing ship (english translations are my own poor attempt).
- das Fabrikschiff (factory ship)
das Fabrik- und Mutterschiff der Walfangflotte (factory and mother ship of the whaling fleet)
das Wal-Verarbeitungsschiff (whale processing ship)
das Walfaenger Fabrikschiff (whaling factory ship)
