I still have some special shoes called 'Crater' from Adidas, that were supposed to hold off heat and not melt its foot. (geologic excursions to Thera , Stromboli and Island).

Thank god we never came close to such a Situation .. i would prefer to run or even better drive away, fast. One of the Landrovers however developed a very big tire when it became hot, it did not burst though..
