Do we all see what is happening with social media? We're losing our ability to interact face to face, which is another skill entirely of its own. There's an immersion factor with everything, and like with sims, unless you're really there talking to the person or on the real sub fighting the real war you really don't get the full effect.

Because of this, we're much more inclined to say things we wouldn't say to someone's face. My Grandpa always told me "If you can't say something decent or constructive, then say nothing at all." Well today the caveat should be added, "unless you're online, then flame that MF as much as possible!"

How many of us here on Subsim would be this comfortable talking to each other if this forum was live, and we were all sitting in a conference room together. Imagine how much spam and non-sequiturs would diminish, and how many real issues would actually get solved? This is precisely why the gov't and media strive hard to keep us at odds with each other, and wrongfully paranoid of our neighbors. We can talk online all we want, but until we actually assemble, we're not a threat. Roll that around in your head a bit.
