I've been wondering about this issue for awhile. The GPS satellites are hardened, but there's a bunch of commsats that are lightly. It's only a matter of time before we get a really wicked solar storm that starts knocking things out (or out of orbit
).
All the more reason we should be deploying blimps for comms.
