Sounds like a problem with the dates alright.
It doesn't take a lot of looking to find the dates throughout the game are not as they should. Anyone who's looked under the hood of SH4 can find lot's of issues with dates in-game. Patrol missions, equipment refits, introduction of new ships into play, all need dates to start\end their life span. Some of the most outstanding oversight on dates is simply having too many days in a 365 calender year. I've found many dates, like the month of September, having 31 days in them. February, April, June and November also can have this misprint of added days in the game. The problem is, if a computer can do anything...... it's capable of accurately counting how many days there are in a year. If the software says a calendar year is 365 days, yet added days in a month count out differently, you'll have a problem.
Ducimus did a fairly good job of fixing these as they were discovered, although I found several within TMO 2.5 that have been missed (I'm sure I missed some too). So the issue is in the dates. I'm guessing it has to do with the specific campaign patrol that's in TMO.
