Sorry I haven't updated. They are doing wonderfully well, they spent 10 days in "jail" after the surgery and got out a week ago yesterday. While they were in there I would go in every couple of hours when I could and sit for 10-15 minutes, they got quite clingy during the separation and wanted to pile on my lap and (usually) go to sleep so I often ended up in there for longer than I intended, lol.

Sam, especially, got very clingy in that he's usually no longer satisfied to sit in my lap, he wants to get up as close as possible. So he gets in my lap and cries until I lay back enough for him to get right up under my chin or on my shoulder and go to sleep. If I don't he'll stand up and put his front paws on my shoulder and rub his nose and face on my face/chin/ears until I comply, which pretty much makes it impossible to continue doing whatever I was doing anyway.

After a week of being out, though, those incidents have gotten a bit less frequent although when he does want in my lap he usually still wants my FULL attention until he goes to sleep, preferably with his head right up on my shoulder and both paws on my face.

Carrot is still the more independent of the two although he is not catching up in size so I guess he will always be a bit smaller. They gained almost a pound each in the two weeks between their first vet visit and the surgery, no clue how much since but Sam almost looks like a fully grown cat already at a little over five months and they usually keep growing until about nine months so he may turn out to be on the big side.

Carrot still looks a bit kittenish size-wise although he's lost the "little round ball of fur" thing and gotten longer and leaner. Even though he's smaller he's still the best jumper and climber. He managed to jump up on the kitchen counter trying to get to the sink last week, but I caught him and used the water spray bottle on him and have averted a couple more attempts the same way since then. He can't do it without a big effort and has to hold on with the front feet while scrabbling with his back feet to pull himself up so he doesn't try it often. Maybe getting sprayed a few times has put him off the idea but only time will tell.

But, yeah, the sink - Carrot LOVES running water. I have to shut them out of the bathroom if I want to wash my face or brush my teeth in peace, because he really really really wants to drink from the faucet and if he wants to do it, Sam will not be far behind him.

I just ordered them a water bowl with the pump and fountain thing, once I get that hooked up they will have their own little constantly running tap to drink from and maybe I'll get back custody of my sink. They'll probably still want to drink from it but I'll just have to pick them up and carry them to their fountain until they get the message.

We had a snowstorm here last Friday so they sent us home from work early, I was hoping to get some pics of them looking out at their first big snowfall but basically I just interrupted their afternoon naptime by coming home when I did. If they were fascinated by the snow flakes coming down outside the window I guess it wore off before I got there because they just wanted to get petted a bit and then go back to sleep.

Oh, and they've discovered the lower top shelf on my computer desk, which means that my view of the monitor now frequently includes one or both of their heads as well as a paw or two or four.
