Mods vary and I don't recall stock anymore, but refitting won't take care of destroyed items and with items not destroyed, some minor repairs at best.

^ This was my thinking. Shouldn't it be called Rearming? An actual refit would be a lengthy job. Realistically, how much could be repaired in a couple days? Probably not that much, so this seems very reasonable to me. Serious damage usually meant terminating the patrol.
