Telll her it's a once in a lifetime opportunity - Rome, Pompei, et al are historic sites that will be there for years before and after, 5/6 Pythons on stages is
history in the making. And you'll always have Paris, and you'll make it up to her, and those dates are a public holiday* in Italy - everywhere will be closed, from cafes to the colosseum (which is nice apart from the migrant 'workers' hawking all the same crappy toys right outside). So you'll have to kip in a tent and wee in a bucket.
London on those days though will be thriving, vibrant, funny, and all the better for a visit from our antipodean cousins.
* I may have just made that bit up.
