Well, they didn't have MREs in WWII which is why I think the recipes they made would've been pretty interesting, then again, if there are no "official recipes" then it was probably the cook improvising with whatever they had at hand.
I guess it's pointless now to try to dig further since I pretty much got my answer thanks to
Jimbuna's link.
I'm not hardcore enough (yet) to get some diesel in a container and put it in a special locker with rotting salty meat laying on top of it lol
