My probably best salvo was few months ago. June 1940 and my IX B U-105 about 400 miles WEst from Gibraltar.
I encountered a large convoy. The sea was plain so I kept the distance of about 6000 m on the starboard of the convoy. DUring the sunset, I got closer, to about 3500 m, increased speed to GroBe Fahrt and started to turn. Fired 6 torpedos, each one against one ship. One dud, but the rest got their targets: one C 3 and one C 3 sank immediately, one C 2 was badly damaged, one small merchant was blown up and another c 3 got a moderate damage.
I went off the convoy at flank speed but remained surfaced - I went fast enough to avoid detection. After reloading torpedos, I `ve finished off the previously hit vessels.
Well, that was a GOOD action
