What I've done to teach those zaggers of the zig a lesson is time the turns and set myself up under 1000m from their central course. Figure up a firing solution for both extreme courses (their heading at the end of each turn) then see how the impact times work out. If the time to impact is less than the time it takes them to turn, I take the shot, if not I let them go. No sense in wasting eels.
I usually go for the closest turn to me and fire just after they begin the turn because they will be exposing their side to me longest while making the turn.
