Using Goblin is really easy once you understand how it works: there is not really much to learn about it. I suggest you reading the
Complete Idiots Guide to Goblin Editor before you start messing with it. It contains instructions on how to set the editor the first time you use it, and some general information on how to open and edit sim, zon, etc, files.
P.S: something not written in the tutorial: if your OS has the Aero theme enabled, and Goblin's drop-down boxes are flickering, follow the instructions below:
