OK with that lets go;
OK system seems fine. I was looking for a bottleneck in the hardware; btw Nvidia card not a strong point for me but guessing that driver set for it is latest?

SH3 Commander guessing up to date to latest version also; note 1 thing that always got me DtD/crash with SH3commander was not using it exclusively to startup SH and exclusively to award/promote.

The only time I use the Crew Functions of
in game any more is to replace lost crewmen.
But if none these things (above) not the cause maybe best to clean install; if you do go so far as a clean install be sure to do a search for any and all entry that are Silent Hunter - sometimes pieces left behind.
Once cleaned out start with fresh install SH3
Then install patch 1.4 - make sure you get correct version for your SH3
Then I recommend JonesSoft mod enabler for SH3

Then mods as you want.
But reality is I see no hardware issues other than potential of Nvidia card but I say again I use ATi and not familar with Nvidia product - other hardware seems good so conclusion is it is a corrupted file somewhere in the SH3 itself thus the suggest of the reinstall.
Otherwise try not using anything but SH3commander prog to mod/award crew and use it exclusively to start up SH3 everytime.
@ Alan the only known problem so far as I have read in the forum here with the 1.4b patch is not using the proper version for your specific game either US or Europe either Disk or Download I believe.
No magic here sometimes in either case it is a file that got corrupted.
