Part of the torpedo angle calculations involves Gyro Angle. If the boat is not perfectly lined up and the torpedo fired at the perfect time it will miss. The solution to this involves setting the gyro angle. Calculations are made and entered into the Torpedo Data Computer. The torpedo will then turn soon after leaving the tube to assume the correct angle of approach to the target. This doesn't mean that it will necessarily hit, and it is not guided. It just turns the way it needs to go to get to the target.
Are you aware of the Pattern Running Torpedoes, which run back and forth until they encounter something? The Acoustic Homing Torpedoes, which lock onto the noise the ship makes and then hunts it down?

Does it include information on Gyro Angle? That's part of the solution, along with Range, Speed and Angle On the Bow.
