Glad you guys do that, but not going to happen in America due to the millions of unwanted pets yearly. The cost to care and find homes would be high. The majority of advocacy groups for animals more interested in money.
At the end of every deer hunting season here, 100's of hunting hounds are shot after deer season. The owners won't spend the money to keep them up until the next season, just keep the better ones and find more about a month before deer season. America has many shelters that state they're "no-kill", including most city shelters now, but with stipulations, if a dog shows any aggressive or dysfunctional behavior, signs of illness, they're put down. Many dogs being forced into a kennel need time, but if one growls, acts depressed, it's put down. Many breeds are protective, not a good thing in a shelter. Most no kill shelters, PETA, etc., put down 90% of pets they "rescue"
I hardly know a vet that will give a dog to PETA. They're numerous cases of PETA picking up rescue dogs to save, only to put them down. Several of PETA's rescue managers given the drugs to kill dogs on the road, bag them and put them in dumpsters. This way it doesn't go on PETA's list of dogs they put down. They're a numerous cases of PETA picking up 20 plus dogs, killing them and throwing them in dumpsters.
