AFAIK, there was nothing in the American (or allied for that matter) military arsenal during WWII that was close to 70,000 tons displacement. Essex class fleet carriers were only about 40K and Iowa class battleships were around 50K (almost 60K fully loaded). I've seen figures indicating that, fully loaded, the Yamato class Japanese battleships were slightly over 70,000 tons, but I'd hate to imagine the renown hit for sinking one of those babies
I did see a web site that listed both the Queen Elizabeth (1940) and the Queen Mary (1936) passenger liners as over 80,000 tons - seeing one of those in SH3 would sure make my day
