This is exactly your problem. Some of the mods you have recently enabled messed up your campaign. All in all, your best option is probably deleting the old saves, perfecting your mod list with all the mods you wish to use (so that you won't need to enable them in the midst of a started career), and restarting a brand new campaign.
One last suggestion: there are patches among the ones devised by TDW which you shouldn't miss if you like realistic gameplay. Unfortunately, most of them are not compatible with the steam version of the game. Nowadays SH5 costs about as much as a packet of cigarettes. Make you a favour and get a retail copy of the game.
