Neither NZ or AU have VAT. That is a totally European thing we pay nothing extra beside the exchange rate, if someone told you different they are wrong, maybe they just wanted the gift
. We have GST (Good and Services Tax) but that's only on things bought in the perspective country. The Gov't here is now trying to pass a law that you pay GST for all internet purchase to help out the poor shopkeepers that won't embrace the 21st century like their competition. I would like to see how they are going to enforce it worldwide.
