Happy to get any answers.

They did have massive problems with duds early on in the war, so maybe the sim models that same frustration. I know I've had a ship at point blank range, already wounded, and with 2 Torps left, only to lose them both to the bottom. I finally figured I was way too close for the Torps to be effective - as I'd imagine less than 50ft to be. In frustration - and having emptied my useless flak ammo at it - I took to ramming my adversary. All I ended up doing was alerting half the Atlantic to my efforts, so the British Navy could have a good belly laugh.

I'm not 100% sure but I'd imagine there to be some kind of delayed arming (as in the RPG) to prevent premature detonation, but as I say I can't be sure if I read that, or I'm just trying for an educated guess. It IS frustrating for sure to steam out to sea, wait hours then watch what is essentially just a big sausage tap gently on Tommy's hull.
