While you may not agree with what you perceive as leniency in this case, keep in mind that the plea deal may have been offered with the approval of the victims, in order to allow them to retain whatever privacy they have and get on with their lives and healing - as opposed to the necessity of going through the ordeal of a trial (and potential appeals of a guilty verdict).

The latter option could and probably would have dragged things out for months if not years and they would have had to continue reliving the horror of what they endured over and over again in the process. This SOB got, what, ten years of their lives already? If they don't want to devote any more time to dealing with the fallout from that, surely no one can blame them.
