Was it Wheels of Terror, the film of the book by Sven Hassel?
It was on the telly here and I got halfway through it before I collapsed and and wife had to do an emergency TV shut off by chucking the cat at it...
Need to buy a new TV now, the cat is fine BTW and looking rather smug
