In Citi field, where my crosstown rivals, the Mets play, Mariano Rivera recieved a 2 minute standing ovation from not only the crowd, but from both benches.

(edit: BTW he pitched a 1-2-3 inning.)
(He is retiring after this year)

If you look at his save stats, no one is anywhere near catching or breaking his record.

He is the Babe Ruth of closers, and of course he is a Yankee.

Every stadium he has been in, he actually got cheers as he came out from away team fans, which is big, because when he comes in, it means your team is losing.

Much class from the fans and both benches last nite, love or hate the Yankees, you have to admit, Rivera will be the best for a long time.

I once saw a documentary on him, where he showed how to make a glove from a milk carton, like he used in Panama as a kid.

Now a first ballot hall of famer, and a class act of a man. Great to fans, especially kids.
