as far as the gramophone, just take notes as you do things and you will figure out how you fixed it or someone else will know how if you ask.
the problem with death is in order to drag it out to give you the "fight for your life" thing it ends up making the sub so unrealistic to any kinds of damage since you have to make it completely indestructible to any damage so it has to sink from flooding. it is a hard coded damage model issue and no one has figured out how to successfully work around it

Thank you for the confirmation on my theory so you think it has nothing to do with some other mod conflict from the mod enabler as you describe the problem in mod soup?
PS I notices some other sounds are cut short. So I will restore some originals and hope my lovely diesel sounds return, now all I get is Electric motor INT doesn't matter submerged or on the surface.
About the boat death........ I think your over complicating it, there can be a water level graphic inside that matches the % of flooding and ballast can be released to stop sinking as the boat loses boyency its a race against time in deep water to stop leaking before the point of no return is reached and the boat heavy with water sinks uncontrollably. In the case of 100% flooding the death sean can be that your under water and can hold your breath for about 60s before swimming to the surface if not too deep, if not fade to black unconscious, game over
music plays.
There was a very old game 1980s? "Silent service" I think with 2D graphics that did this, if you make the decision to blow ballast fast enough you can stop sinking , maintain a depth and have enough time to stop water leaks if its not too bad I think to be realistic the damage leaking Litres per minute must not exceed a high level when in water where the depth exceeds crush depth in order to survive, but if you run out of ballast and crash to the bottom in a safe depth then you have enough time IF you conserve oxygen to make repairs and re-float to the surface again before ruining out of air such things have happened in U boat history.
