Default Grand Theft Auto V

I Figure someone's going to make the topic.

I'm highly anticipating the release for the game in September.

For those who haven't been following the game, here's some highlights from the information released so far:

  • 3 Main characters,Trevor, Michael, and Franklin. Each have their own personality and hobbies. You can switch characters via a pop up wheel. In free-roam you can switch characters at any time, but during missions, there are certain moments when you can not switch. Friend activities will return from IV, but you can also hang out with the other 2 protagonists.
  • Main characters live their daily lives when you're not playing them. They can be in many different scenarios when you switch over to them. For example, When you switch over to Michael you may find him interacting with his two children. Switching over to Trevor, and you might find him standing over a group of bikers he just killed.
  • Weapons are selected from a weapon wheel, fluidly run and gun from the hip while still maintaining complete control of the reticule, Combat jog' that allows you to move at high speeds with your weapon out, but not raised, camera pulled back when zoomed in over the shoulder to open up players' field of vision, combat roll to move strategically from cover and evade incoming fire, reticule switches from white to red to identity an enemy, tiny 'X' flashes over the reticule when targeted enemy is killed, variable targeting options including free aim, soft lock, and hard lock (similar to Max Payne 3) and smoother transitions when moving in and out of cover.
  • The map is open from the start. No longer do you have to play through the story to advance the map.
  • According to Game Informer, the numbers of Vehicles and Weapons is larger than any previous GTA.
  • You can dive underwater. You may find treasure underwater, but there are also sharks to contend with. You can get diving equipment from some boats.
  • You can purchase a fuel canister to douse items with fuel, and then light said object on fire. If they haven't changed it, you can also light a trail of fuel.
  • Vehicle Customization: Paintjobs, wheels, window tints, grills, spoilers, along with robust performance upgrades to suspension, engine, brakes, and more that make meaningful changes to the way vehicles feel and handle
  • Weapon Customization: Silencers, scopes, extended mags, laser sights, and more
  • RPG elements return from SA: Stamina, Shooting, Strength, Stealth, Flying, Driving, Mechanic, Lung Capacity. Trevor will always be the best pilot, Franklin will always be the best driver but each can improve their proficiency a little. However you can't gain or lose weight.
  • Police system is like that of RDR or IV where there is a search radius to get out of. However the system goes by line of sight, so if you stay within the radius, but out of LOS, your wanted level will slowly decrease.
  • Each character has a special ability similar to bullet time from Max Payne. Michael can enter bullet time and mark targets like in RDR, Franklin can slow time while driving to make tricky maneuvers, and Trevor has a rage mode where he does more damages, and receives less.
  • Map is bigger than GTA:SA, GTA:IV, and RDR combined. Contains Los Santos(rendition of L.A.) and Blaine County. Blaine County is the surrounding country side and is made up of Mountains, desert, and forest.
  • Heists are the main focus of the game, and there are 8 major ones. The planning and setting up for a heist return from VC and SA, however this time you make the decisions. You can choose outfits, weapons, vehicles and the crew for the heist.
  • Crew members are hired before the heist and have different skill levels and proficiencies. Higher skilled recruits expect a bigger cut of the heist payout.
  • You can choose to be stealthy, or use brute force, the final pay out for the heist will alter depending on your choice.
  • After each heist is complete, you get a briefing that shows you how much money you made(the article I read alluded to the fact you could actually lose money on a heist by making wrong decisions).
  • In one scenario, the 3 main protagonists are hired by the FIB(FBI) to assault an armored car and steal something out of it. Franklin keeps overwatch from an adjacent building with a rifle, Trevor blocks the trucks route off with a garbage truck, and Michael rams the truck with another truck knocking it on it's side. He then proceeds to blow open the doors with C4 and take what he's after. After a shoot out with the police thanks to the driver of the armored car hitting a panic button, the crew ditch their current vehicle for a getaway vehicle stashed under an overpass. However, this vehicle was not put in place by the mission. It was put in place by the player in the steps leading up to the heist. The player actually had to scope out areas to decide where to put the vehicle. How this was handled has not been detailed yet, as GTA has a habit of despawning unused cars.
