I've created a few basic scenarios using the Mission Editor to help train myself. Basically I put my preferred platform (sub usually) in the game with whatever enemy platform is useful for learning. Since you know the general area of the 'enemy' platforms you can practice detection and engagement without using Show Truth.

Also, I've found the quick missions helpful in learning the game. You usually only have to deal with one or two enemies and one or two neutral/friendlies.
