I really appreciate the rapid response.
First of all may I (I think reiterate?) my thanks to you and the other modders who have created something brilliant out of what was initially a very big disappointment.
I managed to work it out using some common sense (there was a very helpful youtube video!).
Turned out I had basically been an idiot and had added the "parent" UI folder rather than the correct one.
All is well that ends well - about to take my boat on her first patrol and then call it a night!
