I was in the north sea, round about grid square AN46 i suppose, when the watch crew spotted a British submarine headed westerly along our path.
I decided to dive deep and move quickly into his baffles as he had yet to spot me. My plan was to surface astern of the enemy and engage him in a gun dual as i was completely exhausted of torpedoes.
I kept frequent track of him on the hydrophone, listening closely as i neared his baffles i heard his engine suddenly roar to flank speed.
figuring we had been detected i surfaced at flank speed and immediately crewed the deck gun.
"Fire at will! aim for the waterline!"
before the first shell was loaded into the deck gun, a massive explosion swallow up the entire British sub.
suddenly a JU-88 came roaring past out of a swooping dive he climbed up and took an easterly course toward Norway.
at this point my watch officer turned to me
"aircraft spotted!"
I glared at him
"...secure the deck gun. watch crew to the bridge, navigator, return to base course for the kiel canal."
