Oh, I'm not gonna get rid of all the novelty glasses. My favorite juice glass is one from a series of Apollo space program commemorative glasses that was given away as a promotion years ago, probably by some gas station back when they still used to do those things. Apparently there was one glass for each mission. I found a bunch of them in an antiques mall and bought them. Not a whole set, I had duplicates of several of them, but I used them a lot just for myself. Oddly enough the only ones that have survived intact are a couple of the Apollo 13 ones.

So I'll still drink out of the goofy glasses when I'm by myself and just want a drink by the computer or near where I'm working on something. I just won't have to pass them out to guests.

Altho I've always thought it would be fun just to buy goofy mismatched novelty tableware and set the table with it for guests... but knowing me, finding the "perfect" goofy set of mismatched but still meaningful stuff would take longer than just buying a nice matching set that I really like.

Edit: the last time I went to an antiques mall with my sister, someone had all these glasses for sale (probably another promotion from some gas station or restaurant) with Looney Tunes characters on them. If I could've found one each in the same size with, say, eight of my favorite characters, I totally would've bought them. But I couldn't put together a whole set in any size from what they had for sale. I was totally bummed.

So that's what it's called! When you showed the picture in your 'Home' thread I started trying to look up synonyms for "Drill chuck-to-bit converter attachment thingy". The only "Mandrel" I knew was a monster from an old Doctor Who episode.
See, now I know we live in two different worlds. When I hear "mandrel" in my head, all it does is remind me of Barbara and her sisters.
