A girl with common sense is rare.
At a buck-fifty it's definitely wood chips and glue assembled under high pressure and then laminated with veneer. Be extra careful when drilling any part of it. Slow light and even pressure on the drill should do the trick.
I prefer solid wood furniture. My desk was in the $700.00 range. Marked down from $1200.00. Gotta love a clearance sale.
