I noticed that too. I think that's in particullary is a stupid move. This is what I do when an armed trawler is in an attack run. As soon as they pass me, I surface and deckgun them (30sec reload).
After about 5 shots they are on fire and fleeing, never to use there main gun. After that I finish them off.
