About WW2 stories around here, beside the fact Americans built almost everything here (main roads, our airport still active!, extended the harbor for big ships, hospital still working! etc etc...) and more than 1.3 million American soldiers transited by Nouméa because it was a huge base in Pacific and Coral sea battle was just few hundred miles North away (thanks god Americans decided to come here, otherwise our island would have been invaded
), and small stories like a Jap submarine beeing sinked South of Pine island here by an American plane...that's about it!
Oh...and still a lot of mines around our lagoon...even if they tried not so long ago to clear them.
