Some more suggestions:-
Use
7zip or
zipgenius to unpack the compressed mods
When you place the mods in the MODS folder - check and ensure that the first folder you see within a mod is a DATA file. Some mods are packed with extras. So always check for this DATA file.
Yes - follow Sobers list order
You do not have to edit TDWs mod. Many of the default settings are good, But doing so lets you set thing the way you want.

For TDWs patcher - you can place it at the end of your list of mods
