You're right. And even if their intentions are pure (I'm skeptical, but I bet at least some of them are), should anyone come to power after these people get their way, a police state will be easy - the dirty work's been done, the denizens have resigned their freedom, and the Constitution will no longer be worth the paper it's written on.
