Why dont you post this in the Ubi forum.
Most people on these SH5 forum like the game and work at making it better.

You don't want to read it? then why did you read it?
Anyone who has a vague interest in submarine games knows this is THE forum. For THIS game. The forum title is: Silent Hunter 5.

Didn't sound like an attack to me. - 'mods as a matter of fact, do wonderful things. From little details such as flags, and air gauges, up to the whole AI engine (thanks modders for that).'
This offends you how?

And of course you are in the know about everyone who donates to this site and who doesn't?

@OP
I totally agree. The stock game is awful, the mods make a huge difference but the irritating bugs and glitches however minor are so many (and some hard coded re medium fog bug) I find it infuriating. I don't care that there are work around to most problems. I do not find it fun working around minor bugs for the entire game. Every year I download the latest set of mods on a new install. The difference between stock game is incredible. However, get irritated by minor bugs, start tweaking mod soup, or making new private mod, then realise I spend all my spare time doing that, before I ever complete the first campaign. I've never made it that far, and I have too many other interests and commitments to devote my time to it, so I uninstall and wait for next year.
The modders here, including Trevally above have put vast amounts of personal time and energy into not just fixing but finishing this game, but they were left with an embryonic turkey in the beginning, it will likely take a year or 3 more yet, judging by the time it takes me to make my little tweaks. Or there will be some minor bugs that can never be quashed, which probably means I'll never truly get back into it.
@everyone
I think you folks on this here forum need to accept that you are going to get threads like this as long as the game is on sale because of the state of the piece of software that was abandoned by UBIsoft. This feller wasn't rude, expressed gratitude for the modders etc. Listed problem medium fog bug... yes there is easy work around, just don't save until you don't require a save... doesn't work for me. For some people the time spent managing mods is more fun than the game, not knocking it, but for others more casual types or people who just want a decent 'simulation' it is incredibly frustrating to have paid for this product.
Threads like this serve to warn would be first time buyers about what they are letting themselves in for, which might be crucial to their decision to purchase and are as valuable as any other.
