If you have APR, it will tell you what ship or planes have radar. I think with TMO, if you get a "single contact" it's always a plane. Seems radar contact is a ship, but check it, I haven't played in awhile.

When I get a radar contact report from the crew, it's never clear to me if they mean ship or plane. That's why I checked the ppi scope to see if it appeared to be a ship. I will keep in mind your suggestion about "single contact" vs "radar contact". That seems to make some sense.
I had a chance to take the APR at the start of the patrol. Thought I would be more careful.

I was off the coast south of Nagasaki, maybe 120 miles. It was definitely full dark, light clouds but no fog and no wind.
