One of my old circle of friends was a former detective. He told me once that motorcycle cops are convinced they are the best thing on earth. Then he met some fighter pilots and came to the conclusion that bike cops only think they're the best. Fighter jocks
know they're the best.
I once had the job of driving some Saudi aircrew training at Hill AFB up to Jackson Hole for a rafting trip, along with a couple of US escorts. The mechanics behaved like good Muslims - refusing to eat at the diner, cooking their own food, making sure prayers were said. The pilots? They acted like fighter pilots - yelling out comments on the girls we saw, talking about how great they were and generally acting like people everywhere who are certain the world was put there just for them.
