What? Really? I mean, wrestling is a quintessential Olympic sport. Hell, it's one of the few sports that actually has roots back to the ancient games that the modern version is supposed to emulate. What, you're going to have golf, but no wrestling?

Yes but apparently in their review of ticket sales and "popularity" it didn't fare well. I guess if they leave it in it will take time away from events that could draw more viewers to the televised broadcast thus increasing ratings thus allowing the broadcasters to charge more for ad time thus allowing the IOC to charge more for the privilege of broadcasting the event.
Eventually they'll probably replace the pentathlon with a ladies' swimsuit competition and a Nascar race.
