I'll be honest - I hadn't even heard of this aircraft until I came across the model for it.
By the start of WW2 (that was 1939, for our American colleagues) the Seversky P-35 was liked for it's ruggedness but had proven to be poor in performance terms, particularly when compared to it's contemporaries such as the Hurricane and Bf 109. Seversky was eventually forced out of his own company and the firm was rebranded 'Republic Aviation' of P-47 Thunderbolt, F-105 Thunderchief and A-10 Thunderbolt II fame. The P-35's primary role in WW2 was home defence around Sweden.
