I know a 216 Sqn liney drove some steps into the tail of an Alitalia MD-80 at Ancona, iirc the 'cash' cost was around £100k (±30k) to keep fuss to a minimum (ahem, I mean -
repair quickly).
I don't think I blame Alitalia for wanting to keep PR on the good side, they're just a bit unfortunate to have been caught out. They shouldn't have plastered it with Alitalia if they didn't want to be associated with it. Or, if they wanted they could've just opened up a new carrier like some of the British ones did, maybe call it Alitalia-Bambino.
