You can not define violent factions outside of their actions

There are bigger forces at work in middle easten society than religion.
Economics and polotics are the biggest factors in how directly politicaly/religiously active people are.
The rich and free dont fight for anything as they have everything
The poor and opressed fight because they have nothing to lose
And the biggest target for the poor is allways the rich
This happens regardless of religion or race
There are countless historical examples
