one foot note to remember about the topic of sinking credits is if something else attacks the ship then IT and not you might get the sinking credit. if a plane or ship is firing at your target then the last blow before it registers as sunk is who gets the credit.
many times i've cursed planes who show up as its sinking and steal my tonnage
