Dowly, 172 depth charges going off sounds very scary. That was quite the beating to evade and with five escorts all looking for you! Then to survive that pounding only to get rammed the next day, gah

Today I remembered a patrol I had in SH2. Following up on a contact report I had ran into a medium or large convoy of very large ships all unescorted. I believe this was a patrol in the 'Second Kampaign' mod but cannot remember now.

It was an unescorted convoy of either troop carriers, passenger liners, or both. This was in the waters west of the African coast some where south or sout east of the Canary Islands I believe they are called. I remember thinking if I should shoot & sink these ships or not. Would there be war crimes in store later or not? Passenger liners are off limits, no?

But this is a game & they had British colors flying so I matched thier speed, used all my torpedos & shelled the heck out the others. I told my buddy about the patrol, he was sitting near by playing on his pc. I had told him about running into these big enemy ships without guns. I explained to him about the tonnage score & what this convoy would do to it. I think I sank 120k+ or more tons on that patrol.

He does not play the game but was amused. Anytime he sees me playing a silent hunter game he asks if I am sinking innocent passenger liners, he's putting a sarcastic spin on it. I reply with, 'Hey those guys were flying the wrong colors'. I found it odd to find a convoy with that kind of ship make up though. Perhaps the British were bringing troops back from South Africa or from around the horn I dunno.

I have been looking at the WaW site a bit. I think I would like to try that out, I was looking at thier rules & and my installed version is practically all set up to play. Think I'll go back over & check it out again and see where they are at now.
