Don't get me wrong; the Irish had it bad. However, they were not property. They were not sold at the auction block. They could vote. Their marriages were legally recognized. Etc, etc. And while they were certainly at the bottom of the job pool, and openly discriminated against, they were
not slaves, and had those basic rights.
