I sneak into Truk.
I came in at night simply because I thought I could get some tonnage and get out thinking all high and mighty of myself.
I came in from the north passage found the task force at anchor but there was so much fog I could not get a good solution unless I was so close that the fish were below minimum range. I had radar contacts but with out a course orientation I might be firing straight on and miss every time.
I sat submerged for 24 hours.
The fog lifted and I had clear sights on the whole lot. The log entry shows the kills.
The sadness comes in after I get back to port thinking they are going to love me for this one.
I get one bronze star.
No new boat. I mean sure the medal is nice but come on mates?!?!?
All this fire power at the bottom of the lagoon for one bronze medal??
Just seems sad ...
