their solution was to go into control panel and turn off UAC, then retsart pc so UAC will go into effect, then activate the CD, after the game is running ok with uplay, then go back and turn UAC back on and restart again, and the problem should be fully resolved. This however did not work for me, although my uplay is having the same recognition problem
