I have tried a few, and I get a common problem, which seems to relate to how Windows 8 handles hardware acceleration. In previous versions of Windows it is possible to manually control the degree of hardware acceleration so that the recording software can work, but it seems that there is no way to manually control this in Windows 8, which is the new operating system I have on the new laptop. So either I will have to resort to playing SH on my old laptop with slightly lower res and operating speed, or just use that for recording, but that will pose some problems, particularly recreating the exact or similar scenarios to record.
I can't even get SH to run in a window in Windows 8 to see if that helps. I'm no techy so I'll have to do some research on this to try to get a fix before I shell out for recording software.
