Sailor Steve said true - it's personal taste which mods to use, everyone has own list, but there are mods described as "must have". For me must have are GWX 3 Gold, SH3Commander and hsie's hardcore exe fixes as a base. After many tests and being based on my own experiences I can propose You to use mods from my jsgme list:
